Another Day in Durango - April 9
I did wake up in the middle of the night last night but instead of writing, I sat outside. I sat in my car, because it was cold, with the sunroof open, listened to some music & looked at the stars for a while.
The iPhone couldn't capture it, or if it can, I don't know how. If I had an old school film camera, I’d have set it on a tripod & used a very long exposure to take a picture of the sky. It was so clear, with so many stars. The air was crisp & fresh. I couldn’t see the stars from my place in Phoenix but that cool, quiet time in the middle of the night on the back porch was always my favorite. Last night felt similar. Really peaceful.
Yesterday was a more low-key day travel wise. I went to a coffee shop & spent a few hours reading & deleting junk mail. The first coffee went fast, so I got a 2nd one - decaf. By the time I looked up from 1/2 way through the 2nd coffee, it was almost 2pm, dinner was at 6 & I hadn’t had anything but coffee.
I used an app & went to El Moro Tavern in Downtown Durango. Ordered a meat & cheese plate & since there was a Monday ginger mule special, got one of those as well. Food was delicious. Nice & light because the enchilada special for dinner was ginormous.
My other project for the day was some reorganization. The idea of taking my full carryon in & out of each place I say seems silly. I don’t need that much stuff for one day. A friend had the smart idea of using a soft, open laundry basket to organize clothes. That with my compression cubes & all I need to carry in & out are toiletries, technology & a change of clothing. Much simpler. The suitcase actually has all my spices in it now & is shoved in the back of the trunk.
I’ll spend today with my friend & then start traveling again tomorrow. Next stop: Dinosaur Quarry Exhibit Hall.
